Pilates Intel Survey 2019 Results

1

No surprises with this graph showing 94% of Pilates Subscribers are Pilates professionals.

2

85% positive response to this question (Strongly Agree plus Somewhat Agree). For the 8% of the people who responded negatively – even though you don’t enjoy different viewpoints/philosophies, I am still thankful that you subscribe to Pilates Intel!  😉

3

And almost the same here – more than 80% Strongly Agree or Somewhat Agree. Seems 9% of the respondents are completely informed and aren’t learning very much – but when I look at their comments they are positive, so maybe it was a small misunderstanding about the question?

 4

And I think this is the most important chart – 2/3 of the respondents click through to learn more Often or Sometimes – this is in line with my experience…almost all people who write for Pilates Intel experience a nice “bump” in what they are doing after their article is published.  I hope this graph encourages contributions from new authors!

What can we do better at Pilates Intel? What would you like to see more of (or less of) from Pilates Intel in 2020?

(here is a sampling of the responses)

I like it the way it is already. It’s not like others where you feel it’s only business oriented. In Pilates Intel you feel that there is spirit. We feel you love Pilates
Brett: I do love Pilates, I am pleased that you feel that way.
I love the work you do Brett and I think the stories are very different in Pilates Intel, so I trust your choices and look forward reading them. Happy holidays!!!
Brett: Love that feedback, thank you!
I would enjoy having longer articles, which would provide more in-depth insights.
Brett: Longer articles tend to cause some people to unsubscribe, but thank you for the support!  (See comment directly below).
Less wordy, more succinct.
Brett: You can always skip my intro…. and go directly to the article.
Advice, with video if possible, for clients who suffer from arthritis in various parts of the body would be most valuable.
Brett: I am not qualified to do this.  Would any of our subscribers be wiling to write an article on this topic for us?
Site is difficult to navigate. Old articles difficult to retrieve
Brett: We will keep this in mind, but time to make major modifications to the site is not so abundant.  😉
I love to receive your newsletters each week!  I find them inspiring, uplifting, and helpful.  They make me feel a part of the larger Pilates community.  I really enjoyed watching your routine on the fuzzy straps!
Brett: Thanks, I will try to do more videos…but where will I find the time?  😉
I like your platform, keep the variety and continue to stir the “bee hive”. Complacency in the Pilates industry is a cancer. We have such a wonderful product and message and to be so segregated with our differences is the true culprit.
Brett: Agreed!!  That is what keeps us going!
I love how balanced and even your coverage is, and how you do not let Pilates politics take over. I often read articles and think, “whoa, this one’s gonna get some flak!” Then when the next Intel comes out, you acknowledge the controversy (that there was one) but never go into the details of it. I think this is brilliant, because nearly every issue it seems that you essentially affirm that there can be different points of view on any given subject.  I can’t thank you enough for this.
Brett: You are very welcome!  We try to be open to many viewpoints and present them without a lot of our opinion about ‘right’ and ‘wrong’.
It’ll be great if you run occasional surveys about hot industry topics and share the results with your subscribers.
Brett: Fantastic idea, we will start this!!  All suggestions for survey topics are very welcome!
More variety in viewpoints in the articles. There seems to be more of a bias towards classical Pilates and the trends I am seeing today are that a more contemporary approach to teaching is what is popular.
Brett: Yes, I have been stressing the Classical work because I think it is important to know, and there are lots of people who do not, especially if they are trained by one of the ‘large’ Pilates companies, and that is a pity…but we will have a bit more variety going forward.
Thanks very much Brett for providing this great resource to the Pilates community worldwide.  I appreciate your generosity.   I am a classical teacher so I enjoy articles from classical teachers more but human movement science always wins out as the most interesting and informative articles.  More of those please!
Brett: Love the open mind…will do our best to deliver human movement science…we have a few already in the queue for 2020.  😉
Well I am deeply convinced of the classical tradition – every year brings me more evidence of just how genial Joe’s work is. So can’t get enough of that :)))
Brett: Absolutely will have that, three of our seven of our Pilates Intel experts are ‘Classical’ teachers.
More variety in viewpoints in the articles. There seems to be more of a bias towards classical Pilates and the trends I am seeing today are that a more contemporary approach to teaching is what is popular.
Brett: We are dedicated to being a well rounded newsletter….and Classical will always be a strong part of our content because we find it important to at least be aware of (many are really just not) and that makes us sad.  But we are confident we will have lots of ‘Contemporary’ stuff to keep your interest.
Please maintain your positive style and open mindedness.  It’s a joy.
Brett: Will try!!  Thank you!

Thanks for reading, Pilates lovers!
