Sunday  10:00-11:00. Pilates Mat Class with Emphasis on Pilates as a Massage

Sunday 11:15 – 1:30     Unraveling Joe’s Heart and Soul of Reformer: A Journey into the Why

Dive deep into the essence of Pilates with our workshop, “Heart and Soul of Reformer,” as we explore a selection of exercises cherished by Clare and Romana, which they affectionately referred to as “Joe’s Heart and Soul of Reformer.” These exercises hold a special place in the Pilates tradition and include:

  1. Footwork
  2. Hundred
  3. Short Spine Massage (*not included initially but added for this workshop)
  4. Frog and Leg Circles
  5. Stomach Massage Series
  6. Short Box Series
  7. Elephant
  8. Knee Stretch Series
  9. Running
  10. Pelvic Lift

But the question that naturally arises is, why these exercises? Why do they occupy such a central role in the Pilates repertoire?

As we journey through this workshop, we will uncover the profound wisdom behind Joe Pilates’ approach. In Joe’s eyes, every individual, regardless of their level of expertise, started as a beginner. Thus, he believed in providing the same set of exercises tailored to address each practitioner’s unique needs and challenges. The brilliance of these exercises lies in their adaptability; they provide the necessary lessons precisely when the body requires them, emphasizing different aspects for every practitioner.

These exercises were not randomly chosen; they were carefully selected to pinpoint the areas where the body needs to work and evolve. Change, as we know, occurs through movement, and movement has the power to heal. While we may naturally resist change, it is in these transformative moments, when we unlock the secrets of challenging movement, that everything falls into place. The “aha” moments, where the light bulb suddenly flickers to life, bring a profound sense of clarity and understanding.

Sunday 2:15-5 PM  The Pilates Funhouse: A Grand Finale to Your Workshop Weekend

One of the keys to unlocking the fun is exploring the same exercise, or aspects of it, using various apparatus. Our bodies are incredibly adaptable, and they learn precisely what they need when faced with different emphases. During this workshop, Clare will share her insights on addressing those subtle “little issues” or blockages that may have surfaced during your Pilates journey. We’ll delve into integrating reformers, chairs, barrels, towers, and smaller equipment seamlessly to create a holistic and transformative practice.

Our journey begins with a keen observation of the weak points revealed in your primary mat or reformer workouts. Armed with this knowledge, we strategically select exercises that target these areas, providing a tailored approach to your practice. As we progress, we’ll hone our critical thinking skills and develop strategies to both see and feel ongoing improvements.

Regardless of age or fitness level, the Pilates System offers an ever-present challenge when working with the full range of apparatus. “The Pilates Funhouse” invites you to embrace this challenge, exploring the limitless possibilities within the Pilates method. You’ll discover a deeper connection to your body as we navigate this funhouse of Pilates apparatus.
